Wow! This past week and a few days with Charis has been quite an adventure. I never dreamed it would be so much work to take care of a newborn, but I also never would have guessed that I’d love it so much. I think I could just hold her and stare at her for days on end. It’s almost impossible to believe that Charis has only been here a little over a week. It seems like she’s been a part of our lives forever.

Joy and I are starting to get out and about a little bit this week. Yesterday we took Charis by the office where Joy used to work and today we took her by my office. I think everyone really enjoyed seeing her and I know that Joy and I really liked the chance to get out of the house for a little while.

Charis Anne was born at 12:14 this afternoon. She weighs 9 lbs, 5 oz and is 21 inches long. She and her mom are both doing great. I’m still not exactly sure how I’m doing. I’d call it excited, proud, and overwhelmed all rolled into one.

Last night Joy and I watched “The Thin Man” (1934). I didn’t really know what to expect from this one going into it, but it turns out I love it! It stars William Powell and Myrna Loy and their banter is just magnificent. I can’t recall the last time I saw a movie with such clever, quick dialogue. Highly recommended!
