My blog postings have been a little bit slow the past few days because this past week was the annual Missions Conference at our church. Thanks to help from our parents watching Charis some of the time, Joy and I were able to make it to all of the evening services.

Last Sunday morning, and then on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights, we got to hear messages from Luis Bush. Luis Bush served as director of the AD2000 movement for many years and also introduced the idea of the 10/40 window. He had quite a few amazing and challenging stories to share, and it was neat to be able to hear him since I had previously read quite a lot of material written by him and about him.

Wednesday night was “Get Honest Night”, which was a chance for some of the visiting missionaries to share their triumphs and struggles from the past year. One of the families who spoke was recently kicked out of the country they were serving in, and their testimony was incredibly powerful in the midst of their sadness and disappointment. Thursday was a day off, and then Friday was MissionsFest, which included an all church dinner and then a chance to hear quick reports from different missionaries serving throughout the world.

The week was a great blessing to both Joy and I, and though it was very busy and hectic, we are thankful that we were able to attend.
