“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance.”

(Jane Austen)

I’ve been saving this quote all summer waiting for the right time to use it, and our recent (tied) record of 30 days in a row with temperatures at or above 90 degrees certainly makes it appropriate, not to mention several individual day records with temperatures over 100.

I found some instructions online for making an aquarium cover that lets light and air in but still prevents your fish from jumping overboard. It seemed simple enough that even a not-so-handy individual like myself could do it, so I went by Lowe’s today to get the materials I needed. It didn’t take long and I’d say the results turned out pretty well!

My uncle sent me a link to a story from his local newspaper about a $60 million donation to Gordon College, my alma mater. Since I think Gordon was a great blessing in my life, I’m excited to see other people who feel the same way. What an incredible gift this couple is giving to future generations of students!

This list of questions seems to be going around our family. You can see responses from Ariana (the originator), Joy (third comment), and Becca. So Joy was out taking dinner to some friends this evening and I was home with the kids. Cai guy was really fussy but I finally got him settled down and got him to keep his pacifier in his mouth instead of blahing it out. And things were peaceful for a few minutes and Charis and I were playing, and then Charis went over and yanked the pacifier out of Cai’s mouth and said, “He doesn’t want his passey, dada, he just wants to sing!”
